"Korea, the country of rice cakes, raids the US, the country of bread"... SPC Group, investing 240 billion won to build a bakery in Texas, US "To be completed in 2027"

[News Space=Reporter seungwon lee] SPC Group (Chairman Heo Young-in), which operates Paris Baguette, has decided to invest in a bakery in Texas, USA and is moving forward with full-scale construction.

SPC Group has completed the purchase of a bakery site measuring approximately 150,000 m2 (45,000 pyeong) in the industrial complex 'Highpoint Business Park' located in the City of Burleson, Johnson County, Texas, USA, and has received approval for investment plans and subsidies from the local government.

The final procedure, the incentive signing ceremony, was held on January 27 at the Johnson County District Court with SPC Group President Jin-soo Huh and Johnson County Economic Development Director Diana Miller in attendance.

Prior to this, SPC Group Chairman Huh Young-in and President Huh Jin-soo visited the United States on January 20 (local time) to attend President Trump’s inauguration ceremony in Washington D.C. and met with local government officials to discuss economic cooperation and investment plans. In addition, Chairman Huh held a meeting with Paris Baguette America headquarters employees and conducted a final inspection of the bakery investment.

An SPC Group official said, “The construction of the Paris Baguette U.S. bakery was the result of SPC Group Chairman Huh Young-in’s proactive policy of strengthening global business. With the launch of the second Trump administration, the plan was accelerated in consideration of the rapidly changing global market environment and U.S. industrial policies, including the tariff system.”

The state of Texas has excellent logistics accessibility to the entire United States, Canada, and Central America. In particular, Burleson is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the largest city in Texas, so it also has a good employment environment.

SPC Group plans to invest $160 million here to build a bakery. Construction will begin in earnest this summer, with the goal of completion in the second half of 2027. Local governments, including Johnson County and Burleson City, have agreed to provide $10 million in subsidies to Paris Baguette. In addition, the state of Texas offers tax incentives for purchasing equipment needed to build a factory. Accordingly, Paris Baguette will receive up to $14 million in support.

The SPC Texas plant is a production facility to supply bakery products to the United States and Canada, where Paris Baguette stores are expanding, as well as Central and South America, where it plans to enter in the future. First, it will be built on a total floor area of approximately 17,000㎡ (5,200 pyeong) in the first phase. Afterwards, in line with Paris Baguette’s business expansion, it will be expanded to a total of 28,000㎡ (8,400 pyeong) by 2030, enabling it to supply 500 million products annually. This plant is expected to create about 450 jobs, which is the top 5 among companies located in Burleson.

With the construction of this factory, Paris Baguette’s business in the Americas is expected to gain momentum. Paris Baguette currently operates about 210 stores in North America and has set a goal of opening 1,000 stores by 2030. This year, the company plans to expand from the existing 29 states to 35 states and open about 100 new stores.

Paris Baguette has been ranked within the Top 50 of franchise brands evaluated by influential local media outlets in the United States every year. It recently ranked 42nd in the <2025 Franchise 500> selected by the American business magazine 'Entrepreneur'.

SPC Group expects that the Texas plant will contribute to maximizing production and logistics efficiency and improving product quality. The plant will also house a training facility for local franchisees. In addition, the plan to use it as a base for affiliate company SPC Samlip’s North American market response and localization strategy is being reviewed, so synergy effects for the entire SPC Group’s global business are also expected. SPC Samlip is strengthening exports of K-foods such as steamed buns, cream buns, and yakgwa in North America.

SPC Group President Huh Jin-soo said, “The establishment of a local factory in the U.S. will be an important turning point for expanding into the world’s largest market, the U.S., as well as North and Central America,” adding, “We will accelerate our global business localization strategy and work to widely publicize the excellence of K-food in the global market.”
