[News Space=Reporter seungwon lee] There are many people in Korea and around the world who respect Yi Sun-sin, but perhaps no one loves Yi Sun-sin as much as this person.
This is Chairman Yoon Dong-han of Korea Kolmar, a cosmetics manufacturing, development and production company.
Chairman Yoon is a conscious businessman who uses his personal wealth to spread the word about Yi Sun-sin’s leadership and achievements and practices his love for his country and historical awareness.
He established the ‘Seoul Yeohae Foundation’ named after General Yi Sun-sin, and signed a business agreement with Daegu Catholic University in 2021 to establish the Yi Sun-sin Department for Masters and Doctoral Programs. Chairman Yoon is the first graduate of Daegu Catholic University’s ‘Yi Sun-sin Department’ in 2024.
The ‘Seoul Yeohae’s Foundation’ operates the ‘Yi Sun-sin School’ for corporate executives and employees, producing little Yi Sun-sins every year. He also visits places where it is needed and gives lectures on Yi Sun-sin’s life and leadership.
Chairman Yoon said, “I want to contribute to society by following the spirit of General Yi Sun-sin, who is the most respected historical figure and a mentor to me.”
Chairman Yoon selected Yi Sun-sin as the ‘greatest leader in history’ that today’s businesspeople should emulate, and is expanding the scope of his research to include his assistants.
He even spared no effort in visiting Goheung, the hometown of General Jeong Gyeol, General Yi Sun-sin’s mentor, to inspect the site.
Chairman Yoon Dong-han published ‘Sinjeongyeokju Yi Chungmugong Jeonseo’, a modern translation of ‘Yi Chungmugong Jeonseo’, and is actively writing about Yi Sun-sin, including ‘80-year-old Active General Jeong Gyeol’ (2019) and ‘Mother Who Protected Joseon period’ (2022).
Chairman Yoon cited the ‘3 Chu’ of pursuit, overtaking, and fall as one of his usual self-management methods. His philosophy is that when there is nothing, you must chase, once you have climbed to a certain level, you must be careful not to be overtaken, and once you have reached a certain rank, you must be wary of falling.
