[뉴스스페이스=김정영 기자] '쇼고스'를 아시나요? AI 업계에 AI의 위험성을 상징하는 ‘쇼고스(Shoggoth)’라는 그림이 확산중이다. 공상과학 소설에 등장하는 가상 괴물에 빗대어 AI를 문어 같은 모습에 촉수마다 눈이 달린 괴상한 괴물로 형상화한 것. AI가 그만큼 기이하고 위협적이라는 의미다. 챗GPT의 등장으로 AI 기술 발전에 속도가 붙은 가운데 미국 실리콘밸리를 중심으로 쇼고스는 소셜미디어(SNS)에 ‘밈(meme·온라인서 유행하는 사진·영상·유행어 등)’의 형태로 급속히 퍼지고 있다.
