On the afternoon of the 7th, the chairman visited the headquarters of CJ ENM Commerce Division (hereinafter referred to as CJ OnStyle) in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, to inspect the business site of CJ OnStyle, which achieved meaningful growth last year, such as expanding transaction amount centered on MLC, and to encourage its performance.
The chairman said, “I highly value the fact that CJ OnStyle took the lead in market change last year by using MLC as a new growth engine in difficult domestic and international environments,” and added, “We should not rest on our laurels, but proactively respond to changing trends and increase the speed of market dominance with unrivaled competitiveness.”
The chairman said, “If we do not focus our business capabilities on new mobile-centered business models, we will not be able to survive,” and urged us to become the undisputed No. 1 in the domestic MLC market. He continued, “Based on our domestic performance, we must grow globally and work with passion to become a company that leads lifestyle trends in a wider market.”
After reviewing business performance and plans with the management, the chairman visited the MLC broadcast studio and met with key personnel and executives. CJ OnStyle’s key executives, including CJ ENM CEO Yoon Sang-hyun and CJ ENM Commerce Division CEO Lee Sun-young, as well as some of the holding company’s executives, including CJ Corporation CEO Kim Hong-ki, were in attendance.
An employee who was on site said, “Mr. Lee Jae-hyun shook hands with the young employees and encouraged them by saying that he would actively support their business so that they can be proud of being the trendiest lifestyle shoppers. The employees also deeply sympathized and responded with cheers and applause.”
The chairman's visit to CJ OnStyle, his first on-site management business site this year, is interpreted as an attempt to encourage CJ OnStyle's performance in laying the foundation for future growth, such as strengthening the mobile shopping experience in response to the negative market environment, and to check on new growth engines.
CJ OnStyle is evaluated to have effectively implemented the 'one platform' strategy that organically links mobile, TV, and e-commerce by utilizing the know-how accumulated over a long period of time. As a result, CJ OnStyle's MLC transaction amount last year increased by 96% compared to the previous year, and the number of new mobile brands increased by about 400.
Last year, the chairman personally visited affiliates such as Olive Young and Daehan Transportation as part of his New Year’s field management and communicated with employees. In September, he also visited CJ Daehan Transportation’s Saudi GDC and personally toured global business sites.
