[News Space=Reporter seungwon lee] Hyosung TNC, together with Loop Industry and Plitsmama, produced a bag by extracting yarn from waste fibers.
The three companies have gone one step further in the field of eco-friendly solutions by recycling waste fibers to create PET chips instead of transparent PET bottles, which have been the main material used in the past, and by producing polyester yarn and even fashion products.
Hyosung TNC announced on the 24th that it has produced an eco-friendly bag in collaboration with Canadian PET chip production company Loop Industries and domestic eco-fashion brand Plitsmama.
Loop Industry, which has strengthened its resource circulation capabilities through collaborations with famous brands such as Swiss running shoe brand ‘On’ and French cosmetics brand ‘L’Occitane’, will also contribute to polyester fiber production through this collaboration with Hyosung TNC.
Loop Industries is a leading company in the development and production of PET chips, which are used as raw materials for clothing yarns and plastic containers in North America. The main material for PET chips is transparent PET bottles, but Loop Industries also produces high-quality PET chips by 100% chemically recycling various PET wastes, including fibers, in addition to transparent PET bottles.
Hyosung TNC recently used PET chips made from waste polyester fibers by Loop Industry, also known as 'textile recycling (T2T: Textile to Textile)' chips, to produce polyester yarn, and Plitsmama used this yarn to design and produce an eco-friendly bag that combines aesthetics and practicality.
This collaboration is significant in that it completes the supply chain of ‘raw material supply-yarn processing-fashion product production’ based on T2T recycling technology with excellent carbon reduction effects.
Carbon emissions from the process of incinerating and landfilling massive amounts of textile waste have become a serious problem worldwide. Loop Industries has alleviated the textile waste problem by regenerating waste polyester into high-quality PET chips instead of sending it to incinerators and landfills, while providing a sustainable alternative to the global textile industry.
Loop Industries' T2T chips have been shown to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% and energy consumption by up to 91% compared to PET chips produced from fossil fuels.
Hyosung TNC expects that this collaboration will not only revitalize the recycled fiber market but also strengthen its position as a leader in the eco-friendly fiber market through true resource circulation from clothing waste to the production of recycled products.
Kimchi-hyung, CEO of Hyosung TNC, said, “The circular economy is a field in which Hyosung TNC is leading the way with a focus on sustainable material Regen,” and added, “Through this collaboration, we plan to support customers in achieving their sustainability goals and further expand next-generation eco-friendly solutions.”
