The leak of data related to the Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) has been detected, but the exact cause and scale have not yet been revealed.

According to SK Telecom on the 22nd, their internal system was hacked on the afternoon of the 19th, and it is believed that some subscriber SIM card-related information was leaked through malware that infiltrated the system.

SK Telecom immediately deleted the malware and isolated the suspected hacking device. As of now, there have been no confirmed cases of SIM card information being exploited, but free SIM card protection service subscription is available to customers who want to take safety measures.

SK Telecom said, “We will do our best to strengthen our security system and establish customer information protection measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future,” and “We sincerely apologize once again for causing concern to our customers.”
