[NewsSpace==JeongYoung Kim] Choi Min-Jeong, the second daughter of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, is starting a new chapter in her life as an English teacher.

It has recently come to light that Choi Min-Jeong took a leave of absence from SK Hynix last year and is currently engaged in volunteer work at a non-profit organization (NGO) in San Francisco, USA, following her previous involvement as an unpaid advisor at a medical startup.

According to industry sources, earlier this year Choi Min-Jeong began providing free educational volunteering for underprivileged teenagers at an NGO called "SMART." Initially applying to teach mathematics, she was assigned to teach English and has been providing private tutoring sessions once a week for approximately six months.

SMART, an NGO founded in San Francisco in 2018, operates a program that connects volunteer educators with underprivileged middle and high school students in the local area. Its objective is to provide equal opportunities for college graduation to all students in San Francisco.

In addition to her volunteer work at SMART, Min-Jeong is also involved in unpaid advisory work at a remote healthcare startup called Done, which provides remote diagnosis and personalized therapy and counseling services for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) patients.

Min-Jeong joined INTRA, a specialized organization for international trade and policy response at SK Hynix based in Washington, D.C., as a deputy in 2019. During her tenure at SK Hynix, she gained attention by delivering a speech at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, where she addressed startups and investors.

Reportedly, she expressed SK Hynix's intention to become an investment company beyond semiconductors and revealed plans to frequently visit Silicon Valley in the future.

Meanwhile, Choi Min-Jeong, among Chairman Chey's three children, has attracted the most attention publicly. After graduating from the School of Business at Peking University in China in 2014, she became the first among the Chey siblings to voluntarily enlist in the Navy, serving in the Naval Special Warfare Flotilla and the West Sea Second Fleet. She retired as a Navy lieutenant in November 2017 and joined Hongyi Investment, a Chinese investment firm, in 2018, where she was involved in global M&A-related tasks.
