[News Space=Reporter seungwon lee] Our country's water management technology is being introduced to the Asian market. Domestic climate and water tech companies are accelerating their entry into overseas markets based on their ultra-gap water management capabilities.

Korea Water Resources Corporation announced that it held a technology seminar at the 22nd Asia Water Council Board of Directors meeting held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the 27th.

The Asia Water Council is the largest water cooperation organization in Asia, established in 2016 by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Water Resources Corporation. Currently, 171 organizations, including governments and public institutions from 26 countries including China and Cambodia, are participating as member organizations. As the chair organization, the Korea Water Resources Corporation plays a pivotal role in spreading practical solutions to solve water problems.

This seminar was attended by high-ranking government officials from each country, including the Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology. The Korea Water Resources Corporation proposed water infrastructure management technology combined with cutting-edge technology as a policy innovation task for each country to increase efficiency in preventing and responding to water disasters.

It attracted attention by presenting ultra-gap water management technologies such as ▲water management digital twin ▲artificial intelligence (AI) water purification plant ▲smart water network management (SWNM) technology.

The excellent technologies of domestic innovative companies were also introduced. Twelve domestic climate and water tech companies participated in the seminar and held one-on-one business meetings.

The board meeting that followed was attended by about 20 board organizations, including the Korea Water Resources Corporation, which is the chair organization. Five organizations, including the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan and the Korean Committee for UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), were newly registered through the board meeting. The Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan highly evaluated the capabilities of the Korea Water Resources Corporation and expressed his intention to continuously expand cooperation on smart water management currently being promoted.

The 4th Asia International Water Week will be held in Manila, Philippines in 2027. The Philippines, which is also a country struggling with water management, will utilize the Asia International Water Week to come up with sustainable solutions to water issues.

Yoon Seok-dae, president of Korea Water Resources Corporation, said, “In order for Asia to achieve sustainable growth, solving water issues, a challenge in the era of climate crisis, must come first.” He added, “With the Asia Water Council as the focal point, we will continue technological exchanges and cooperation so that Korea’s leading ultra-gap water management technology can be transferred as an innovative solution to the global challenge of water issues.”
